Reconstruction of the railway station, Lausanne / Switzerland

Project overview

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is expanding the capacity of the Lausanne station as part of the Léman 2030 project. For this purpose, the tracks are being reconstructed and the platforms are being extended to a length of 420 meters. At the same time, the square in front of the railway station will also be completely rebuilt and a generous underground connection between trains, metro and buses will be created. Both projects are implemented in a very complex system of already existing modes of transport and infrastructural facilities, suited to the possibilities during the ongoing operation. Basler & Hofmann AG is responsible for the overall BIM coordination of all 20 participating project partners with around 30 models divided up by professions and suppliers. Especially in complex construction planning, the use of BIM technology has proven to be highly beneficial.
