"For me, working at Basler & Hofmann Slovakia is special mainly thanks to the company culture, excellent relationships in the workplace, and great support from the company management, which creates an excellent working environment."

An attractive working environment
Time for hobbies and families
Our staff have considerable freedom to structure their own working hours. We work on the basis of annual working hours, and are open to various part-time models. Overtime can be compensated with time off. Achieving a work-life balance requires not only flexibility with working hours, but also a corporate culture that actively supports this value. At Basler & Hofmann Slovakia part-time working is commonplace for men and women and in all functions.
Professional and personal development
We look for individuals with initiative who want to develop further and are open for new challenges. This is why it is important to us to open up new perspectives: with new assignments in a project or in a different specialist area, by internal or external trainings. We also defray the charges for examinations and memberships in professional institutions.
A friendly, family-like community
Our project work is based on exchange between disciplines, between young and more experienced specialists, and between different approaches. There are lots of opportunities to meet new people: at excursions, corporate events or internal get-togethers. We also have a regular exchange program with our parent company in Switzerland. All of these opportunities help employees to feel at home very quickly.
Cross-border exchange
We are a member of the Swiss Basler & Hofmann Group. Employees from all companies actively exchange information on current developments and ongoing projects. Whether in Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy or Singapore: our doors are open to each other. Interested employees also have the opportunity to work at another location for a period of time and get to know the planning and construction culture there.
"We don't like words like ‘no’ or statements like ‘that won't work’. Everyone in the team is motivated to find solutions, even if the challenge looks insurmountable at first glance. Thanks to our team spirit, we (almost) always find a solution."
Marián Kováčik, Senior Road Design Engineer
What is important to us - Our corporate culture
The team is the star
Team spirit is a top priority for us. The focus is on joint success with everyone doing their best to achieve it. This can often be a challenge: particularly in interdisciplinary teams, one sometimes has to rethink one’s own "ideal" solution. The task of overcoming such challenges is made much easier by a willingness to engage in dialogue, curiosity and perseverance.
Trust and support
We live a culture of trust based on open and honest dealings with one another. Our employees perform their tasks with a great deal of personal responsibility and a high level of quality awareness - and can rely on the fact that they have support, especially in difficult moments.
The project at the center
The project is at the center of our thoughts and actions. The project teams are put together in such a way that the technical requirements are optimally fulfilled - regardless of our organizational structure. We work together across departments and in very flat hierarchies. Project management plays a central role and has a great deal of creative freedom.
Challenging tasks
The more complex, the better - that's how many of our employees think. We enjoy challenging tasks that really push us to the limit. We promise our customers outstanding services. The knowledge potential available at Basler & Hofmann is enormous. Thanks to our interdisciplinary project teams, our open doors and numerous exchange platforms, anyone and everyone can access it.
"The most important thing for me is to benefit society, to create something valuable for people. It's a great feeling when I can drive through a tunnel that we've designed. The project you've worked on becomes tangible in moments like that."
Alexandra Jacková, Senior Structural Engineer, Tunnels and Geotechnics
We promote commitment and new ideas
Today's business world is fast-moving and complex. As a leading company, we want to proactively initiate change and lead the way with good ideas. We welcome employees who contribute to the value creation and development of the company with an entrepreneurial mindset and innovative spirit.
We like to be beginners
We actively engage with social and technical developments. We look for challenges and actively expose ourselves to new topics and experiences. We probe, explore and carry out experiments. We also gain important insights from detours, mistakes and failures and use them to learn as much as possible.
Room for new ideas
We give committed employees the opportunity to help shape the future of the company. We welcome the ideas and initiative of each and every individual and create the freedom to realize ideas. New and further developments have the same value for us as customer projects. Every convincing innovative project will be supported.
"Our team is involved in major projects in Switzerland, where we develop complex reinforcement and formwork plans. I can travel to Switzerland several times a year for work. I have therefore learnt a lot about Switzerland over the years in terms of construction standards, the German language and culture."
Gergely Matus, Senior Architectural Design Engineer
Still studying, but keen to gain practical experience? We offer open internships for students of all engineering and planning disciplines. As an intern, you will be part of a project team, can work on your first tasks independently and also go out onto the construction site.
